Treating the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) with Winback Tecartherapy

The temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) is one of the most mobile joints in the human body. It is one of the most used joints, but due to its configuration, it is also one of the least stable. According to studies, TMJ pain affects 30 to 50% of the adult population at least once in their lives. Their origin is multi-factorial, but it is most often due to an imbalance in muscle tension. TMJ dysfunctions can be caused by direct trauma, postural or dental disorders.

In addition to TMJ pain, there are many indications for maxillofacial treatment: headaches, neck or face pain, jaw cracking or locking, bruxism, dental occlusion disorders, but also after mandibular surgery. The treatment objectives are to reduce pain, to rebalance muscular tension or to recover the mouth opening.

Optimization of the treatment according to the area with tecartherapy

Winback allows you to optimize each of the treatment objectives. The analgesic effect of the Winback energy, thanks to the application of the CET electrode in front of the TMJ, makes it possible to respect the no-pain rule. Indeed, a nociceptive reaction could lead to a reflex contracture.
The CET electrode facilitates muscle relaxation of the temporal or suboccipital muscles.

The intra-oral work of the masseter, medial or lateral pterygoid muscles is facilitated by the transmission of Winback energy. Indeed, the Winback energy can pass through thin gloves, allowing intra-oral work while respecting all the rules of hygiene. The use of RET bracelets also allows to work on the mouth opening with a dental socket, with at first the simple rotation movement of the mandibular condyle, then the coordinated advancement of the mandible and the disc.
